Whoever wrote this article left out another unfortunate fact that we would see as controversial. But I will say that as a woman I would either visit Ancient Egypt or the Middle Ages before going to any Ancient Greek city state.

I read Greek so I've read deeply of Greek writers. They had plagues in Greece and Rome that wiped out big percentages of the population.. This didn't change until the 20th century. If a medieval or Ancient Greek traveler came to a major American city (viz. San Francisco), the person would be able to truly note that people of our time poop on the street—and not just probably.
